Estimator/Project Manager

Position Summary:

The Estimator/Project Manager will plan, estimate and manage a wide range of construction projects from start to finish. This employee will organize and oversee construction procedures and ensure they are completed in a timely and efficient manner. This employee will be well versed in all construction methodologies and procedures and be able to coordinate a team of professionals of different disciplines to achieve the best results.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Pre Construction Estimating
  • Estimate and bid new construction projects.
  • Review project specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and establish overall estimate requirements required for a complete scope of work.
  • Develop estimate content and perform quantity take offs
  • Maintain detailed files of take-offs, pricing from subcontractors and suppliers
  • Request quotations from vendors, review quotes for accuracy
  • Negotiate and issue subcontract and supplier agreements
  • Obtain permits and licenses from the appropriate authorities.
  • Plan all construction operations and develop project schedules to meet project deadlines
  • Update and maintain project schedules
  • Issue subcontracts, material contracts, purchase orders
  • Evaluate progress and provide detailed reports that will include breakdowns of project costs and forecasts of remaining costs. Report budget variances to accounting.
  • Process change orders to keep project budgets current and accurate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, or related field, required.
  • At least three years of related experience required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods standing at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.

Carpenter

Position Summary:

The Carpenter will build, erect, install, and repair forms, structures, and other fixtures made from wood and other materials as needed to assist with various types of construction projects.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Measure, mark, and arrange materials to established layout based on blueprints or instructions from supervisors.
  • Cut and shape structures, forms, or other fixtures from wood, plastic, fiberglass, or drywall.
  • Use various hand and power tools to securely build assigned projects.
  • Join materials with the most appropriate nail, screw, staple, or adhesive.
  • Ensure the accuracy of work by checking completed projects with tools such as levels, surveying equipment, or framing squares; corrects problems as needed.
  • Create wooden forms for pouring concrete or for construction projects.
  • Erect and dismantle scaffolding.
  • Install windows and doors.
  • Adhere to local building and safety codes and guidelines.
  • Observe and comply with all applicable OSHA Safety Regulations on each worksite.
  • Communicate with owners, architects and subcontractors and relay information to project managers.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Skills and Experience:

  • Ability to understand directions and read blueprints.
  • Ability to solve mathematical problems quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to properly care for and use tools of the trade.
  • Thorough understanding of carpentry principles and methods.
  • Work well as part of a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal communications skills.
  • Ability to work with a variety of personalities.

Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of vocational school or technical college or apprenticeship program; OR at least three years of experience via on-the-job training required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods standing, climbing, bending, and kneeling.
  • Must be able to safely work with sharp tools or power equipment.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and terrains.
  • Must have manual dexterity, a good sense of balance, and excellent hand-eye coordination.
  • Must have physical strength, balance, hand eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and push and/or pull 50-pound loads at a time.
  • Must be able to stand and walk up to eight hours per day and climb multiple sets of stairs while carrying materials between 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work some Saturdays and at night, when needed.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $28.00 per hour
