Excellence In Construction Awards

Apr 17, 2018

Cheever Construction recieved the Eagle Award in the Institutional ($5 to $10 Million) category at the ABC Excellence In Construction Banquet for the Saline County Courthouse.

The Saline County Board of Commissioners had ongoing concerns with a variety of topics in association with the aging condition of their Courthouse building; whether in need of repair, replacement, update or addition. As needs were assessed, it became necessary to respond to several of these issues. Combining areas of concerns into one project provided a controlled approach to each, keeping the possibility of additional and future expectations in the discussion. Having a defined direction, the Saline County Board of Commissioners engaged the services of Berggren Architects to bring all aspects of the project together. Jerry Berggren and his staff are renowned for their expertise in historic renovations. The County and design team also determined they wanted the entire shell of the four-story above grade new addition structure to withstand a 250-mph wind load. The new addition was designed to match and compliment the timeless construction of the existing courthouse. Upon refinement of the design moving forward, Saline County selected the Cheever Construction Company to build the six-plus million-dollar addition to their historic courthouse. In the summer of 2015 Cheever Construction broke ground on the Saline County Court House addition.
